Schools play a vital role in helping young people to discover, develop and define their talents – including their creative talents, to recognise what parts they might play in society and that they have the creative resources to contribute to it in future. Creative thinking can be developed while promoting the acquisition of content knowledge through approaches that encourage exploration and discovery.

Teachers need to understand how creative thinking can be recognised, the circumstances that encourage it, and how they can effectively guide students to become more creative in their thinking.
